Alhamdulillah, syukur.
PROGRAM MENTOR-MENTEE SK METHODIST (ACS)2010. Dokumen Serupa dengan Program Mentor Mentee Sekolah - CONTOH. Aktiviti Mentor Mentee.
SITI MUNIRAH BINTI MOHD NASIR SEI150044. First of all, I hope from this social engagement, I can at least share the way of understanding mathematics. It is because of my mathematics to understand and imbued. That’s why, to me is not how many topics that can be taught is the main goal, otherwise the effectiveness of the teaching.
In addition, to me, the teacher at SMK Sri Pantai is very good in teaching their students. Throughout this social engagement, I can feel that these students are very good and can be successful in mathematics but may be due to careless and overconfident cause they will make mistakes during exams. Throughout the social engagement, I and my friends also share our life experiences. For me, in this way makes them more enthusiastic in their studies.
They also participate in all the program enthusiastically, especially in activities Math Shopping and Explorace. For this reason, I feel happy when our activities are getting a very positive response from the students Finally, I feel very happy to be working with all my colleagues from the Department of Pure Mathematics and hope that our cooperation fertilizer is not resting on this program only.Hope to meet you all again students of SMK Sri Pantai. Thats all from me, Teach and share it!!! (Hanif Bin Haron, SEI 150040). I know it has been weeks, but can somebody help me move on please?! Seriously, I miss the kids a lot.
When it comes to a meeting, there must be a farewell, and that is what all of us hate the most right! To be really honest, I learned a lot from them. I am very impressed about their willing to learn and understand mathematics. Majority of them show interest and give response during our mentor mentee session, which proved that the students actually paying attention to us, the mentor! I believe that was a major achievement for some of us though haha. And not to forget, they bring back memories too. I just realize during the mentor mentee session about how crucial a role of teacher can be.
Be a good teacher sure a tough matter. How I wish I give more concentration during class instead of sleeping all day. The teachers might felt intimidated by my action right? Luckily I already ask for apologize last teachers’ day J. So, that’s wrapped up my post for this Social Engagement Project. May the kids get a good result in their SPM!
Author Posted on. Assalamualaikum and hello everyone! First of all, I’m glad that we managed to complete our task in four weeks and I’m sure all of us have learned something from the activities. I also had gained a lot of new knowledge and experience. Well, some events did not go smoothly as we planned, but I reckon that we reached our goals to help the kids regain their interest in Maths and Science. Of course it is not only the chance to give back to society, but it is also the chance to create the memories and bond between us.
I got to know my coursemate closely and I hope we keep in touch and help each other in the future. Thousand of gratitude to all my coursemate because of their cooperation and time, this project run successfully. For my subgroup members (experiment), thanks a lot for everything we did together and with the strong commitment, we managed to achieve our objectives although there were some flaws.
Last but not least, token of appreciation to my lecturer, En.Bakri and Dr.Tan Ta Sheng for their guidance and support. Without no pressure, we did our best to bring impact to the students. Good job guys! SMK Sri Pantai, 30 April 2016 (Saturday) NUR NABILAH HUSNA ABDUL RAHMAN, SEI150042 Author Posted on. Although the program has already finished, I still wanted to share my experience during the second last week (this post is for the ‘fasa semasa’) before the program ended. (I will make another post for the ‘fasa selepas’).
I am sorry for the late review because i forgot to write it on the wordpress. So, for the second last week, we only went to the school during Friday because the students have ‘Hari Penyampaian Anugerah’ on Saturday. But sadly, there were only a few students who attend. Mentors (us) were more than the students. Basically, there were two activities being held during that Friday. One was mentor-mentee activity (as usual) and the other one was ‘trick in mathematics’ activity. For the first one and a half hour, I joined the mentor-mentee programme. Sadly, there were too many mentors compared to the mentees during that day.
But it gives benefits to those students who attend during that day as we were much focused on them. From my observation, I found that most of the students were much more comfortable using their teachers’ working even though we have teached them the much easier way (such as completing the square topic). But it wasn’t a big deal, as for me, as long as they understand and they know how to do it correctly, then it was fine. Overall, the activity went well. And for another half an hour, I joined the trick maths activity. I found that it was really really interesting and the students gives a very good responds to the one who taught them the tricks.
I, myself also joined the students learned the tricks and i became excited when i knew the tricks! It was a very good way to attract the students to love maths though. Hello and good day everyone, First and foremost, let me say this first that whatever I post here is pretty much my opinion and mine alone, and honestly speaking, I will criticize a little bit about this social engagement and say few words about it. However, it is undeniable that this program would be a huge platform for most of us (me at least) as it gives us the invaluable experience for conducting future program.

Let me say a few things about the BAD side of this project/social engagement (but for the sake keeping this post short, I would refer “social engagement” to “project”. Truth to be told, this project is unorganized. There are not specific groups/bureau that manage specific things (as most project usually have specific groups/bureau). These are the few examples;. The logistics (which handles the transportation and other necessities). The group that handles food (I do not know the specific word for this particular group).
The technicals (in case we need to use projector and slides for better learning experience). Bear in mind that the 3 above are the only FEW examples from many, many other groups/bureau The consequence that we faced for not having such groups/bureau (I’ll take logististics as an example); The college students (us) arrived at the school at different times because the transport is not provided, meaning that we have to go to the school on our own, thus resulting on some of the programs that we planned to do that day delayed a little bit because we have to wait for others to come.
The 2nd one would be the mentor-mentee program. In all honesty, I really like the idea of the college students (us) teaching all those form 4 and form 5 in Mathematics/AddMathematics. However, one major problem that I and others faced during this mentor-mentee, we don’t know what topics are we supposed to teach. There is no one true syllabus that we all followed through until the end of this project. I’ll try to explain a little bit. Basically, the mentor-mentee groups are the most crucial bureau/group in this project as 90% of this project was based on teaching and learning, and almost all students (us and the high school students) are involved and distributed to 3-4 groups. However, each of the 3-4 groups basically teaches different things, some mentor created their own syllabus like Hazim and Fatihin (props to them), some followed the textbook and some didn’t even have one.
This causes a disparity between the 3-4 mentor-mentee groups as each group learned different things (and at different pace since all syllabus are different from one another). Hence, the teaching and learning process are not organized and some learned more (and some learned less). So to avoid this, I suggest next time (if there is one), the very first thing that we should do is to make a syllabus before starting the mentor-mentee. Look at that sentence again, “A syllabus” (which means only one syllabus that all mentor should follow through the project).
Those are the bad things about this project (maybe there’s a few more) but let’s focus on the good things now shall we? So what’s good? Pretty much everything else. Well, for one I would say the commitment made by both sides of the students. No matter if it’s Friday or Saturday, they WILL surely come. It’s astonishing that even though the program is on the evening and sometimes early in the morning, it amaze me how many of students actually come to the program.
That really shows how much they are willing to learn and how far they would go for the sake of learning. No transportation? The mentors would gladly take the bus and walk a little bit to the school.
Not really sure what to teach the students? Well then, the student themselves would gladly decide what topic they want to learn from us.
Let’s be real here. A group of inexperienced college students trying to teach you Maths without any proper syllabus, without any food given and the program (usually) starts late on Friday evening and Saturday early morning? Well I expect them not to go but to my surprise, they really did go. Some mentors really put their heart into this project and I have nothing but mad respect to them. It actually made me realize that maybe teaching is not a bad profession after all and there are a few mentors that would become excellent lecturers/teachers (if they indeed want to pursue the teaching profession).

There are tons of good things about this project but this one strikes me the most, Mathematics is really, really hard if you do it by yourself. We usually say that Mathematics is the hardest subject one will ever faced and one inevitably have to learn sooner or later regardless of how hard it is (since most jobs requires a good grade in Maths).
A few would ace Maths, but many would stumble down and many will give up. But do keep in mind that, Maths is not something that you can learn by yourself. It is something that only with guidance and help of others, that the subject would be surprisingly easy.
Such is also life. There are few roadblocks here and there and we may experience failures and total defeat sometimes, but do know that we humans are born with the help of others. We live by the help of others.
And we become someone great with the help of others (excuse my philosophical nonsense but I really wanted to say that). Anyway, I really should stop since it’s already past 1 am.
But before that, huge thanks to everyone that involved in this project. Sure it’s not perfect and we may experienced some hiccups and all, but the experience gained was all worth it. Till we meet again in the future, AMIN SAZUKI, SEI150013 Author Posted on. Assalamualaikum and hi guys, This is my first post here, what i want to write about is the memories we share together. First of all,I’m a bit shy especially around stranger. So i have problems approaching the students, but I’m grateful that the students of SMK Sri Pantai are sporting and easy going, because of that I have lot of fun with them. Secondly, to be honest,it is a bit tiring.
Whenever after the Social Engagement activities on Friday(3-5.30 p.m) and Saturday(9-11.30a.m), I feels sleepy, even though I don’t think i do much during the activities, just walked to each students if they have problems with their Mathematics or Additional Mathematics, corrected their mistakes, teach them how to use formula and so on. Maybe the responsibility is too big for me and it makes me feel tired. The responsibilities to teach student to make them understands and loves Mathematics and Additional Mathematics furthermore to motivates them.
It is such a great responsibilities and because of that it makes me appreciate and respect all the teachers and lecturer in the World, especially my mom who is also a teacher. I love you, mom. Lastly, words to my comrades.
You guys are awesome! Big applaud to us that we finally finished our activities at SMK Sri Pantai. Sorry that I didn’t approach you guys, like I write before,I’m a bit shy around strangers. I hope we can get along well since we won’t have a lot of opportunity to meet again, since I am a second years student.
Special thanks to our supervisor,Mr.Mohamad Bakri bin Zubir and Dr Ta Sheng Tan. In conclusion, the times i spent together with the students of SMK Sri Pantai and my comrades is one of my sweet memories this year. I will always remembers this memories. P/S: Ignore all the grammar error and so on,since my English is terrible.
